Designed to motivate students to read more and expand their knowledge about the QuickReads topics, Become an Expert provides a collection of books specially chosen from various Pearson Education libraries to build upon the science and social studies content presented in QuickReads.
The QuickReads program is easy for educators to learn how to use effectively. All QuickReads Print and Technology packages include a self-paced, multi-media DVD (also available separately) about the research findings of effective fluency instruction. QuickReads also comes with a self-paced training CD for quick and successful program implementation.
For Elementary Grade Students

QuickReads offers a comprehensive program to strengthen fluency and comprehension, while building background knowledge in science and social studies. Each QuickReads level includes three books, covering six topics with five passages per topic. Built-in placement and ongoing progress monitoring ensures that every student benefits from using QuickReads.
Matching the innovative and successful QuickReads program with advanced Soliloquy technology offers a range of additional options for teaching and learning. Voice recognition technology provides students opportunities for independent reading practice with automatic feedback and correction. Additional features include built-in assessment and progress monitoring, increased accessibility and more.

All the benefits of the original QuickReads program are now available for older students, with redesigned passages that follow the same innovative and successful text model, new passages in additional content areas based on the national standards for middle and high school grades and activities suitable for older students. QReads are available in packs covering two reading levels each.

Each Fluency Library title extends one of the passages from each QuickReads topic, offering additional passages and activities to strengthen students’ fluency, comprehension and background knowledge. For each level, Fluency Library titles are available in individual 6-packs or a comprehensive Classroom Library.
For Students of Any Grade Already Using QuickReads

For each level, there are six Expert Packs available, corresponding to three science topics and three social studies topics from the same QuickReads level. Expert Packs are available individually or in a Classroom Library for each level.

All of the passages in the original QuickReads Print and Technology editions, the QReads program and the QuickReads Fluency Library were created using the innovative Text Elements by Task (TExT) text difficulty model developed by QuickReads author Elfrieda H. Unlike the other components of the QuickReads product family, Become an Expert features some of the finest content-area-specific books from Pearson Education’s various libraries, and are not written to conform to the QuickReads text model.
Since the materials available for professional development are not intended for students, no text model was used to create them.
